Trimato privacy policy

Overview
Trimato is an audio and video editor for macOS published by Marco Salsiccia. Projects, media inspection, playback proxies, generated media, editing, and export are processed locally on the Mac.
Information collected by Trimato
Trimato does not collect, receive, sell, rent, or share personal information. The app has no accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking, developer-operated online service, or third-party tracking software.
Trimato does not transmit your projects, source media, exported files, generated text, editing activity, filenames, file locations, accessibility information, device identifiers, or usage history to the developer.
Projects and source media
You choose where to save each Trimato project. A project package can store project settings, target duration, media organization, source edits, timeline tracks and clip placement, clip names, audio settings, filters, transitions, generator definitions, user-entered text and styling, source file paths, and local file-access bookmarks needed to reopen selected media.
That project information remains in the saved project package. Trimato does not upload it to the developer or to a developer-operated service.
Trimato refers to source media in its existing Finder locations. Editing does not modify the original source files.
If you choose to save a project or source file in iCloud Drive, another cloud-storage folder, a network volume, or a shared location, that storage service handles syncing, network transport, availability, and storage according to your settings and its own privacy policy. Trimato does not select or operate that service.
Local media processing
Trimato uses Apple media frameworks and bundled FFmpeg and ffprobe tools to inspect and process media. The bundled tools have networking and encrypted-stream protocols disabled and can access only local files and local process pipes.
When macOS cannot play a source format directly, Trimato may create a playback proxy in the macOS Caches directory. The local cache index records a cache identifier, source file size and modification time, proxy size, and when the proxy was last used.
The managed playback-proxy cache has a 10 GB limit and also preserves at least 10 GB of free disk space when possible. Trimato may remove older inactive proxies to stay within those limits. Media Cache settings let you remove unused proxies or all proxies that are not required by an open project. Clearing the cache does not remove original media or Trimato projects.
Generated and temporary media
Trimato stores locally rendered generator media in the macOS Caches directory. The saved project contains the generator definition, including any text and styling, so Trimato can rebuild generated media when needed.
Filters, transitions, previews, and exports can create temporary render files. Trimato normally removes these files as their work completes or when the related preview or editor closes. An unexpected shutdown can leave temporary files until they are replaced, removed by Trimato, or cleared by macOS.
Generated and temporary media is not uploaded to the developer. Removing it does not delete the original source media or the editing instructions saved in a Trimato project.
Exported files
You choose the filename, format, and destination for an exported movie or audio file. Trimato writes the export to that selected location and does not send it to the developer.
Recent projects
Trimato uses the standard macOS document system to show available recent projects. macOS manages that recent-document information locally.
Export notifications
If you allow notifications, Trimato can create a local macOS notification containing the exported filename when an export completes. Trimato does not send the notification or filename to the developer.
Network access and external links
Editing and exporting do not require a Trimato account, an internet connection, or a developer-operated server. Trimato does not upload projects or media.
The About window contains links to the Trimato privacy policy and the FFmpeg website. A link opens in your selected browser only when you activate it. The browser and destination website then handle the request according to their own privacy policies.
Support
The Trimato marketing page provides links to email support and GitHub Issues. Information is shared only when you choose to contact the developer or submit an issue. Your email provider or GitHub handles that information according to its own privacy policy.
Mac App Store and TestFlight diagnostics
Trimato is distributed through Apple services. Apple may process purchase, download, account, analytics, and diagnostic information according to Apple’s services, your settings, and Apple’s privacy policy.
Apple may provide the developer with aggregated App Store analytics or crash diagnostics. TestFlight crash reports may be shared with the developer automatically. Trimato does not add its own analytics or crash-reporting service, and these Apple reports do not give the developer your Trimato projects or source media.

Third-party software
Trimato bundles FFmpeg and ffprobe for local media inspection, playback proxy generation, conversion, filters, and transitions. These components operate locally and are not analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
Children’s privacy
Trimato does not knowingly collect personal information from children or other users. The app contains no accounts, advertising, tracking, or social features.
Deleting local information
The developer holds no Trimato project or media information to delete. You can delete projects, source media, and exported files from the locations where you saved them. Media Cache settings can remove inactive playback proxies. Trimato and macOS manage cache and temporary files, while macOS manages recent-document information and Apple manages App Store and TestFlight information.
Deleting Trimato does not automatically delete projects, source media, or exports saved outside the app.
Changes to this policy
If Trimato changes in a way that affects this policy, this page and its effective date will be updated.
