Intersector Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 29, 2026

Overview

Intersector helps identify nearby intersections and provides street-orientation information from the iPhone app, Apple Watch companion app, and Siri Shortcuts. The app is designed to use only the information needed to provide those features.

Information Intersector Uses

Intersector uses your device location to find nearby streets, intersections, crossings, walking paths, and optional neighborhood context. Point and Scan also uses device heading information so the app can estimate which nearby mapped intersection the phone is pointing toward.

Intersector does not create user accounts, sell personal information, show ads, or intentionally collect analytics.

Location And Heading Data

Location access is requested through the system location permission on iPhone and Apple Watch. Your location and heading are used to calculate intersection and direction information while you are using Intersector features. Intersector does not store a history of your locations.

Map Data

Intersector requests nearby street, intersection, crossing, walking-path, and place data from OpenStreetMap data services through Overpass. Those requests may include a nearby coordinate so the service can return relevant map data and neighborhood context. OpenStreetMap and Overpass are third-party services with their own practices.

Map data is from OpenStreetMap and is available under the Open Database License. Learn more at openstreetmap.org/copyright.

Siri Shortcuts

Intersector provides Siri Shortcuts for app features such as nearest intersection, upcoming intersection, second and third intersection reports, My Direction, and Point and Scan. Siri and Shortcuts are provided by Apple and may process your request according to Apple’s privacy policies and settings.

Feedback Email

If you choose Send Feedback, Intersector opens Mail or a mailto link addressed to the developer. Any message you send is handled by your email app and email provider. Intersector does not send feedback silently or automatically.

Local Preferences

Intersector may store app preferences locally on your device, such as onboarding completion, announcement detail choices, measurement units, direction wording, neighborhood context, haptic feedback preference, Apple Watch settings, and whether Point and Scan should start after a shortcut opens the app.

Data Sharing

Intersector does not sell your information. The app only shares information when needed to provide its features, such as requesting nearby map data from OpenStreetMap data services through Overpass, or when you choose to send feedback by email.

Children’s Privacy

Intersector is not designed to collect personal information from children. The app does not include accounts, ads, or social features.

Changes To This Policy

This policy may be updated when Intersector changes. Updates will be reflected by changing the effective date on this page.
