Rehabilitation Way Logo

Chancey Fleet tagged me in a Facebook post made by Robert Parsons. Robert owns a company called Rehabilitation Way which serves to teach and train folks in a variety of assistive technologies, and he was looking for someone to build him a logo. After the success with Asanda Pavlacka's logo, I jumped at the chance to create more professional work.

I chatted with Robert over Facebook Messenger, getting an idea about what his company did and any ideas he had about what he wanted for a logo. I sketched out a whole bunch of ideas, scanned them in and sent them to him, and he worked with a visual interpreter to pick the one they liked the most. Robert is also blind, so I wanted to create a logo that was tactilly interesting, minimalist, and understandable and recognizable at a glance by sighted and low-vision patrons.

I came up with the idea of using the initials of his business, but placing an uppercase letter R on the left, then drawing an arrow pointing to the right. The width of the body of the arrow matches the height of the letter R, and the part closest to the R is shaped to match the curvature of the letter. The R and the arrow itself are forest green in color, Robert's favorite color. Inside the body of the arrow, there is a white capital letter W, and filling in the rest of the body of the arrow are the braille characters for "RW." The placement is balanced with the end of the arrow and the whole logo is longer than it is tall.

A thick forest green arrow pointing to the right. A Capital letter R is to the left of the arrow body, and the shape of the end of the arrow closest to the R is curved to match the letter R glyph shape. A white capital letter W is within the horizontal body of the arrow along with white braille dots spelling out the characters for RW.
