Tactile Art Collective Logo

With the official naming of the Tactile Art Collective at the end of 2025, the time finally came to build a logo. With design and collaborative input from Chancey Fleet, Minh Ha, Ka Li, Shelly Smith, and Ann Cunningham, this is our first tactile and visual representation of our combined work for teaching art and drawing skills to blind and low-vision folks worldwide.

Each letterform of the TAC abbreviation contains the corresponding braille character. The T is a block letter with the braille character for "T" nestled inside the main stem.

The A is a stylized letterform, with the main legs of the A being the thickest at the apex and tapering down into points at the ends of the legs. The A is slightly larger than the other letterforms for both tactile and visual intrigue and to make it seem more dynmaic. The single braille dot for the letter A exists inside the A as a suggestion of the crossbar.

The C is made up of an SVG arc for accuracy, and stops a little shy of the top-most curve of the C. The braille character for C exists as the finishing element to complete the full arc and shape of the C.

The whole set of letters is wrapped in a comic speech bubble, representing the gamut of what is possible for tactile graphics, whether it's comics, art, technical drawings, or just increasing the social conversation about tactile art and design.
