Compositing Collection
Old compositing clips I created back in high school and college before graduating. These are quite silly and here for mostly my own enjoyment. Created primarily with After Effects, Shake, and Maya.
Mob Project
Filmed this with some friends back in college. I composited the animated character and folder into the scene, formed the transition from the digital folder to the real folder on the table, did the overall treatment to the footage, and replaced all the shadows of the objects on the table due to the primary light source being in the shot, though the shadows were being cast by the keylight behind the camera.
Mob Project breakdown
Here's the breakdown video showing the full compositing process layer by layer.
Missile
Created for a Particles and Effects class in college. Used Maya to create and animate the missile bay doors, used a free missile model that had a transforming animation, then used particles to create the smoke contrail as the missile launches. Composited the whole scene in After Effects.
Light Sabers
Oh goodness, my first foray into playing with After Effects, Photoshop, and rotoscoping. This was done back in high school in a video class. Filmed this in our classroom, and added the lightsaber effect frame-by-frame by painting them in using Photoshop and adding additional effects with After Effects. I'm sure one of the filters added extra future embarrassment.
Matchmove
This was a crazy last-minute off-the-cuff project I put together when I needed more oomph for my graduate reel in college. I learned how to run Maya Matchmove, used free stock footage, created a whole virtual set with effects, lighting, and particles, keyed the woman and placed her into the solved scene, and rotoscoped her so I could composite the energy bolts around her. I literally threw this together in one night and it demonstrated my aptitude with Maya, Shake, and key compositing concepts including rotoscoping, keying, lighting, and solving and tracking for a 3D scene. What fun!
