Sanity Clause sketch as performed by the Marx Bros. from "A Night at the Opera." Audio edited by Marco Salsiccia.

Stylized cartoon versions of Chico and Groucho Marx face each other, each holding a large piece of paper.

On the left, Chico is wearing a green knit cap, has curly brown hair, beady eyes, and is clean shaven. On the right, Groucho is dressed in a suit, with shiny black hair, glasses, and a thick black mustache and signature eyebrows.

[Groucho] - "There's no need of you reading that because these are duplicates."

[Chico] - "Yes...duplicates..."

[Papers rustling]

[Chico] - "Duplicates...eh..."

[Groucho] - "I say they're they're duplicates."

[Chico] - "Right, ssure, they's are duplicates, eh?"

[Groucho] - "Don't you know what duplicates are?"

[Chico] - "Sure, there's 5 kids up in Canada."

[Groucho] - "Well go ahead and read it!Now pay particular attention to this first clause because it's most important..."

[Groucho clears his throat] - "ALright, it says the, uh..."

[Chico interrupts] - "Hey, wait wait...what does this say here? This thing here?

Chico motions towards the contract papers and Groucho leans in to his own contract to look.

[Groucho] - "Yeah, oh that, that's the usual clause. That's in every contract..."

[Chico] - "Well...I don't know..."

[Groucho] - "It's alright! That's...that's in every contract! That's what they call a Sanity Clause!"

Chico squints his eyes and leans back for a big laugh.

[Chico] - - [Laughing] You can't fool me! There ain't no Sanity Clause!" (pronounced quickly to sound like Santa Clause.)

Chico looks bemused while Groucho rolls his eyes in annoyance.
